田家少闲月，五月人倍忙。

Farmers have little leisure tides,

The fifth lunar month is the busiest time.

夜来南风起，小麦覆陇黄。

At night there comes a southern gust,

the wheat in the field turns mature and golden overnight.

妇姑荷箪食，童稚携壶浆。

Women, on the shoulder,

carrying food in the bamboo container,

Children bringing water pots.

相随饷田去，丁壮在南冈。

stream out southward to the wheat fields,

Where harvesting are lads.

足蒸暑土气，背灼炎天光。

Under their feet, heat from the earth is burning.

Upon their back, the sun is flaming.

力尽不知热，但惜夏日长。

The above nightmare,

Too busy to care,

They only fear,

the sun would soon disappear.
